About us

Terra Adentro is a research and practice initiative working across climate justice, systemic change, and the cultural and institutional transformations required in times of planetary instability.

Since its formation in 2019, Terra Adentro has engaged in consulting and advisory work with cultural institutions and developed educational initiatives and learning spaces informed by the professional and relational trajectories of its founders.

The founders’ previous engagement in the Gesturing Towards Decolonial Futures (GTDF) collective forms part of these trajectories and informs Terra Adentro’s sensibilities. While this history remains relevant, Terra Adentro’s work today unfolds independently, in dialogue with a range of actors and contexts.

Terra Adentro has maintained sustained relationships with Indigenous-led initiatives connected to the Teia das 5 Curas research project, which originated within the field of work of the Gesturing Towards Decolonial Futures (GTDF) collective. These engagements are shaped by long-term relational work and, where appropriate, continue in support of Indigenous-led priorities and initiatives, grounded in reciprocity, care, and shared responsibility.

Alongside its research trajectories, Terra Adentro supports organizations and initiatives navigating institutional transitions and rethinking dominant approaches to development, governance, and responsibility.
What we do
Terra Adentro’s work takes different forms across research, collaboration, and learning spaces. Below are some of the ways in which this work is approached.

Direct research and public work
We develop independent research projects and public-facing work, including publications, essays, talks, and experimental formats connected to climate justice, reparation, and systemic change.

Pedagogical work and learning spaces
We design and facilitate courses, immersions, retreats, and cross-sector gatherings that support learning, reflection, and shared sense-making around complex social and ecological challenges.

Commissioned work with organizations and foundations
We work with organizations and foundations through consulting, facilitation, and strategic support. Our collaborations focus on helping partners better understand their contexts, reflect on their assumptions, and navigate complex transitions with greater accountability and care.

Community based and Indigenous led collaborations
Our community-based collaborations include work with Indigenous-led initiatives focused on cultural, territorial, and spiritual autonomy, including projects connected to the Teia das 5 Curas. We engage as supporters and learners, contributing where invited.
